Waterloo & City line to reopen after 14 months

London Underground is gearing up for the return of thousands of Metropolis personnel by reopening of “The Drain” amongst Waterloo and Bank stations.

The Waterloo & Metropolis line, which has been shut for 14 months, will reopen on June 21, Transport for London reported.

It issued the statement just before Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned of “disruption” to the reopening of the economic climate in light-weight of new strains of Covid-19.

The line was opened in 1898 and became acknowledged for lengthy queues at the country’s busiest overland teach station.

It carries 15m travellers on a yearly basis and is the next busiest following the Victoria line.

Tube bosses are to set on an additional peak solutions to cater for bankers, attorneys and accountants that are unable to adjust their doing work hours.

Catherine McGuinness, plan chief for the Metropolis of London Company, reported: “The reopening of the historic Waterloo & Metropolis line is very important to the Square Mile’s restoration.”
